Children

Welcome to Northminster’s Children’s Ministry. We are devoted to developing the  social, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual growth of all children.  At Northminster, children learn that the church is a place where they belong, are loved, have friends, and find important service to do.   We have many programs designed to support your child’s faith formation throughout their childhood, all while keeping the grace and love of God at the center of our ministry.

At Northminster, we believe that children learn to worship by worshiping.  Therefore, we welcome children of all ages in our worship service.  The sound of little children reminds us all that Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.”  Matthew 19:14.

Nursery: Birth – Age 2

Northminster offers Nursery care to our littlest loves. Your child is always welcome in our nursery where they will be both loved and nurtured by our professional staff. Available every Sunday morning from 9am – 12pm, we provide a minimum of two adults to supervise the play and activities of all children. Background checks and reference checks are run on all our staff so that you can feel confident that your child will be safe and comfortable at all times.

Sunday School | 9:00 AM

Sunday School is available for all children ages 3 – 5th grade every week. This multiage class explores the familiar Bible stories with children each week.   Come hear the familiar stories, and investigate them through a variety of activities where children are given a hands-on opportunity to interact with the story through art, food, science, drama, and movement.

Children’s Church: During Worship

Children’s Church is available on Sundays during worship for children ages 3 – 5th grade. At Northminster, children are asked to join their family for worship until after the children’s moment.  Children are then invited to gather in age-appropriate classes to examine the topics and stories that are being explored in worship that week. An effort is made to incorporate regular use of the Bible and to discuss the elements of worship with our children as they grow. Our goal is to provide all our children with a joyful and meaningful learning environment  where they are encouraged to know Jesus and to grow as followers of him.   We would love to have you come and join us for the fun! If you have any questions please contact Sara Holland.

Families With Young Children Sunday School Class:

At Northminster we know that the strongest spiritual impact for children comes from daily interactions with the adults they love and trust most.  We also believe that you do not have to tackle this daily task of helping your children to know Christ alone.  This class meets on the first Sunday of each month at 9 a.m. to help equip, encourage, and rejoice with families as they navigate the challenges of parenting in faith together.

 Vacation Bible School:

Mark your calendars now for Northminster’s 2017 VBS.  This year, we are going to meet on four consecutive Sunday evenings beginning July 16.  We will then meet July 23, 30, and August 6.  Each week dinner will be served at 5pm, and will be followed by programming from 5:30 – 7:30pm. This year our theme is, “Telling the Stories of Jesus:  Puzzling on Parables”.  Come join us for four nights of stories, songs, games, and activities that remind us to listen for Christ’s message in our lives.   Registration opens May 14th  in the Family Room or by calling the church office at 680-4825.  Or, register using this link:  https://goo.gl/forms/S0zgU7R8ySUiLQAn2

Summer Suppers

Back by popular demand!  Northminster Summer Suppers are an opportunity for families with or without children to gather as a community in a casual environment to share parenting, friendship, and faith.  We meet once a month, at the Bigz on 151, to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere where families can enjoy a meal together and children can have an opportunity to play together.   The  dates this summer are on Wednesday evenings,  June 14, July 12, and  Aug. 9. at 5:30pm.  We hope all will enjoy the fellowship of time together as a community of faith, supporting each other on our faith journey.    Sara will be there with balls for the kids and a couple of picnic blankets! Come join us!
