Summer Adult Sunday School
Walter Brueggemann’s study, Embracing the Prophets
Using the Hebrew scriptures of the old testament, this study examines the questions of: What was the message of these remarkable poet-prophets in their own time and place? What is their message for us today? We invite you to join us in Classroom 1 each week for the conversation!
Jesus, the Bible, and Homosexuality: Explode the Myths, Heal the Church by Jack Rogers
In this revised and expanded best seller, Rogers argues for equal rights in both the church and society for lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgender people. He describes how he moved away from opposition to support, charts the church’s history of using biblical passages to oppress marginalized groups, argues for a Christ-centered reading of Scripture, debunks stereotypes about gays and lesbians, and explores texts used most frequently against homosexuals and gay ordination. In this newly revised edition, he maps the recent progress of major U.S. denominations toward full equality for LGBT persons, adds a new chapter that examines how Scripture is best interpreted by Jesus’ redemptive life and ministry, and updates his own efforts and experiences. We invite you to join us in Classroom 2 for this timely study.
Bigz Summer Suppers
Come join us for one of our most popular summer events. All ages welcome for some food, drinks, and fellowship. Bigz is a great area for families as the adults can sit in the shade and let the kids run off some of that pent up energy!
We’ll be meeting June 19th, July 24th, and August 14th at 5:30pm. We hope that you’ll join us for one or all of the nights!
Pastor’s Book of the Month Club
Sabbath as Resistance is a short but challenging book that asks you to look at the idea of Sabbath and what it truly means. It’s not a list of “thou shalt nots” but rather a celebration of the freedom that God has given us. Join us on June 27th as we discuss this great book.
Vacation Bible School
Come join us as we explore who is our neighbor and how we can love them just like Jesus loves us!
