“LESSONS FROM A CAVE”

Sermon: “Lessons From a Cave”
Text: Ephesians 1:17-20
Today’s message is all about the power of the resurrection, and who doesn’t need
more power? I know a story about a prison chaplain who disliked a prisoner on death
row as much as the prisoner disliked him. On the day of the execution, the prisoner
was strapped into the electric chair and the chaplain asked with fake compassion,
“My son, is there anything I can do for you?” “Sure padre,” responded the angry
prisoner, “hold my hand.” To which the chaplain replied, “What can I say, except
more power to you!”
Oddly enough, on this Easter morning, we will focus on a story of David where he
finds incredible power in a cave. This will then lead us back to our text from
Ephesians.
P.S. Please remember to have some bread and juice (or red wine of your choice)
ready for our online Holy Communion. If you don’t have either and weren’t planning
on a trip to HEB, just use water and a cracker. The elements of Communion are very
special, not because of their shape or composition, but because of our God who
infuses them in the moment of faith.
