What The Heck is Dominion? Part 2

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the LORD added to their number daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:42-47

Our text this week is about a community that really understood Jesus’ message about the kingdom— and, it transformed them and the world around them. Can God do that again?

There’s an old story about a policeman who pulls over a suspected drunken driver. When, he walks up to the car, he’s surprised to see his pastor behind the wheel. Next to the reverend is a brown paper bag with a bottle of wine inside.

“Pastor,” what’s in the bottle?” “Water,” slurs the reverend. “May I see it?” asks the officer. The pastor hands him the bag, and the lawman sniffs the open bottle. “Pastor, this bottle is filled with wine.”

“Hallelujah!” shouts the clergyman, “He did it again!”

God totally transformed the early church in Jerusalem. Instead of just bringing us up to the kingdom of heaven when we die, He brings the kingdom of Heaven into us, while we live.

God can do it again!
