Northminster’s Children’s Ministry is devoted to developing the social, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual growth of all children. At Northminster, children learn that the church is a place where they belong, are loved, have friends, and find important service to do. We have many programs designed to support your child’s growth in faith throughout their childhood, all while keeping the grace and love of God at the center of our ministry.
At Northminster, we believe that children learn to worship by worshiping. Therefore, we welcome children of all ages in our worship service. The sound of little children reminds us all that Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.” Matthew 19:14
For our Youngest: Birth to 2
Northminster offers Nursery care to our littlest loves. Your child is always welcome in our nursery where they will be both loved and nurtured by our professional staff. Available every Sunday morning from 9 am – 12 pm, we provide a minimum of two adults to supervise the play and activities of all children. Background checks and reference checks are run on all our staff so that you can feel confident that your child will be safe and comfortable at all times.
During Worship
At Northminster we are striving to find more ways to include children in the worship service. From having Acolytes help start the service, children’s choir, and inviting all children to stay and take part in Communion, we know that children just aren’t the future of the church: they are full members of the church now.
To help meet the individual needs of our children, we have two classes for children during the sermon portion of the service. Families are welcome to keep children in the service or let them join the class. We currently have a pre-K class and an early elementary class. An effort is made to incorporate regular use of the Bible and to discuss the elements of worship with our children as they grow. Our goal is to provide all our children with a joyful and meaningful learning environment where they are encouraged to know Jesus and to grow as followers of him.
